It is amazing how some come up with arguments to keep our dependency on Oil. They think corn, wheat… is the only source of materials for Ethanol and Methanol. That is a falsehood that must be countered. It is this closed mindedness that is keeping the effort back. The only way we will break the stranglehold is through alternative energy.
Of course, some of those people have a vested interest in pushing oil.
The alternative fuel push is currently strong here in Michigan and they are looking an sources of material that is not food related.

We know about Methanol and Ethanol, but what about other Alcohols like Butanol.
From what I have read, Butanol can run in today’s gasoline engines without any modifications.
There is so much out there that people do not know about.

I just did a Yahoo news search on Ethanol and then one on Methanol. There were approximately 20 times more stories on Ethanol than Methanol. Yes, ethanol is a little more efficient, methanol can be made from more sources and would not put as much pressure on certain agricultural products.
It is seems to be the same for producers. Many in Ethanol, very few in Methanol.

From reading the book Energy Victory: Winning the War on Terror by Breaking Free of Oil by Robert Zubrin, I see the possibility of Methanol/Ethanol production for many forms of BioMass.
One source that is not mentioned in the book which could be a possible huge contributer to BioMass could be sewage.
You already have central collecting points in almost every local in the country, why not use the existing infrastructure to build the conversion plants. Add in garbage collections to the same point and not only will you have additional material, you can reduce the use of landfills.

I tend to be more traditional than the average Catholic, but not to the point of preferring the Extraordinary Form of the Mass. In fact, I am completely turned off by those TLM Onlyists that like to degrade the Ordinary Form of the Mass. Where I go, the Ordinary Form of the Mass is celebrated:
- Ad Orientum
- Chant in Latin for the Gloria, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei (95% of the time and based on the priest).
- Communion of the Tongue using Intinction while ate the Altar Rail
- Mass sometime said completely in Latin (again based on the priest)
