Are Our Habits Feeding Our Enemies?

May 10th, 2008 · No Comments

When I say “habit, I mean our addition to oil and the enemies are the Radical Islamic Terrorists.
The answer is probably yes. Much of the oil money sent to the Middle East ends up in the hands of groups like Al-Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, and the likes.
How? It is mainly through governments like Iran [...]

Replacing undesirable crops and planting more to bring down grain costs

April 11th, 2008 · No Comments

There has been a lot of press lately about how using corn for ethanol has been driving up crop prices. However, I see a few benefits that come from this (and one is already starting):

Farmers are starting to pull land that the government has been paying them to not plant back into production. [...]

What about other Alcohols

February 29th, 2008 · No Comments

We know about Methanol and Ethanol, but what about other Alcohols like Butanol.
From what I have read, Butanol can run in today’s gasoline engines without any modifications.
There is so much out there that people do not know about.

Why does Ethanol get all the Press?

February 28th, 2008 · No Comments

I just did a Yahoo news search on Ethanol and then one on Methanol.  There were approximately 20 times more stories on Ethanol than Methanol.  Yes, ethanol is a little more efficient, methanol can be made from more sources and would not put as much pressure on certain agricultural products.
It is seems to be the [...]

Methanol from Biomass

February 27th, 2008 · No Comments

From reading the book Energy Victory: Winning the War on Terror by Breaking Free of Oil by Robert Zubrin, I see the possibility of Methanol/Ethanol production for many forms of BioMass.
One source that is not mentioned in the book which could be a possible huge contributer to BioMass could [...]
